Pop Mongrel is a collection of resources about popular culture. Both students and faculty of the Media Studies department at Vancouver Island University can contribute their own resources to the website through the use of the custom back-end.

The front-end consists of the dynamic webpages that were created from a static template. They display the information that is contributed from the back-end.

The back-end is custom built, and allows students and faculty to login and contribute their own resources to the website. There are multiple levels of users, each with their own privileges within the back-end. Students can only contribute, while faculty can also approve/delete contributions, and admin can create/delete users as well. All of the forms check for validation using both jQuery and PHP, as well as other security measures throughout. The website also includes a search feature.

I created this dynamic website for one of my major projects in my Spring 2010 semester at Vancouver Island University. Since then it has been an on/off project of mine, and during my Spring 2011 semester I added new features, made some improvements, and gave the website a new look.
